990, 867. Recovery of textile content and rubber from rubber tyres &c. CHEMOBRIPEX MAGYAR VEGYIARU KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. June 4, 1962 [June 3, 1961], No. 21569/62. Headings D1F and D1N. [Also in Divisions B2 and B4] A process for the recovery of the textile content and the production of rubber grist from rubber articles containing textiles-especially motor tyres -comprises slicing and then milling the articles followed on the one hand by processing the cord fibres obtained and on the other hand by sieving the rubber grist to sort it and remove textile remnants. Rubber tyres are put on rotating tables 1 and are sliced into rings, Figs. 2-4 (not shown), which are cut into slabs and fed into a slicing machine 2 (see Division B4). The slices thus obtained are passed into a milling machine 3 of known construction, for example a Condux type. Cord fibres pass from the mill 3 to a licker-in 14 having feeding rollers 60 (Fig. 8) of small diameter because of the short fibre length and then to a willowing drum 61, a suction cylinder 62 and vibrating machine 65. The material then passes through a three stage carding willow 16-each stage having a willowing drum 69 and suction drum 70- a "continuous batcher" 74, and a carding machine 19 and finally reaches a lap winder 20. Vibrating sieves and an air stream 53, Fig. 7 (not shown), remove textile remnants from the rubber grist and sort the grist by grain size.
