Abstract
990,452. Charging and discharging capacitors. IMPULSPHYSIK DR. ING. FRANK FRUNGEL G.m.b.H. Dec. 10, 1963 [Dec. 10, 1962], No. 48744/63. Heading H2H. [Also in Division H1] In an arrangement for discharging a capacitor 5 into a spark gap or discharge tube having 2 electrodes, a conductor 4 is surrounded by ferritic or other magnetic material 7 having high permeability but a low saturation flux, which presents a high impedance to a starting pulse from a circuit 10-15 but low impedance to the discharge of capacitor 5. The circuit 10-15 may comprise a capacitor 11 charged from a supply 10 through a winding 13a of a transformer and discharged by a switch 12 such as a spark gap, thyratron or electron tube whereby the winding 13c charges a capacitor 14 whose voltage is added to that of another capacitor 15 when a spark gap 16 breaks down. A Marx or other circuit may be substituted for the circuit 10-15. The spark gap 15 is preferably enclosed.
