Abstract

655,722. Sawtooth generating circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 1, 1948, No. 11961. [Class 40 (vi)] In a circuit of the type in which a sawtooth wave is generated by charging a capacitor and discharging it rapidly through a pentode valve which is rendered alternately conducting and non-conducting by intercoupling a pair of its electrodes other than the suppressor grid, for example, by a transformer or a valve, the suppressor grid is connected through a resistor to a positive voltage, and a further capacitor is arranged to be charged through the resistor and discharged through the valve. The valve shown operates as a blocking oscillator and the sawtooth wave is generated by charging and discharging the capacitor 12. The suppressor grid is connected to H.T. through a resistor 14 and to earth through a capacitor 12. A further sawtooth wave is thus generated at the suppressor grid, which grid is thereby maintained positive during the flyback increasing the rate of discharge of the main capacitor.
