Abstract

990,001. Couplings. AMP Inc. Jan. 10, 1964 [Jan. 17, 1963], No. 2204/63. Heading H2E. A connector for attaching a cable to a post 9, as described in Specification 956,118, consists of a base 2 with upturned side walls 3, 4 having pushed-in rectangular parts 5, 6 to engage the post, the cable being received in notch 10 and held between the base and the post. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the parts 5, 6 are first bent inwardly and then downwardly. The connector is formed from a blank, Fig. 5 (not shown), and may have stress relieving apertures of the upper corners where the parts join the side walls. The lower edges of the parts 5, 6 may be parallel to the base 2 along their length, Fig. 4 (not shown), or inclined, Fig. 8 (not shown), to provide an increasing grip as the connector is applied. In a further modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the pushed-in parts may be of semi-conical form and the connector is bell-mouthed.
