A box for the storage of fish comprises rigid end pieces 1, 2, while the bottom 5 and side walls 3, 4 are made of cardboard coated on one or both sides with a plastic and is characterized in that drainage holes 10 are cut in the lower edge of at least one of the end pieces. Laths 6, 7 strengthen the box and further laths 8 may be located in channels 9 in the bottom of the box. The box may be provided with handles or a lid and the bottom may be provided with one or more downwardly open channels to fit a corresponding number of laths on the lid of a box below to facilitate stacking.
