Abstract
989,132. Bending. TUBELA ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 19, 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 12645/63. Heading B3E. A tube bending machine has a support for tube to be bent and carries a pivot for a bending assembly comprising a handle on one side of the pivot and an operating surface, for acting on an extension of the tube beyond the support, on the other side of the pivot and nearer than the free end of the handle to the pivot, the support being on the handle side of the pivot. A tube 13 to be bent is supported horizontally on a U-shaped cradle 12 standing on legs 11, that part of the tube extending beyond the cradle 12 is bent up around a former 16 by a roller 19 bearing on the tube through a guide member 23. The roller 19 is carried by a pair of arms 17, 17<SP>1</SP> pivoted at 14 to the former 16 and having a handle 22 extending therefrom. To bend tubing 25 of smaller diameter, Fig. 2, the apparatus is rearranged by mounting the roller 19 at 21 on the arms 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, supporting the tube on a smaller cradle 28 within the cradle 12, replacing the former 16 by former 27 and mounting the arms 17, 17<SP>1</SP> to swing about a pivot 26 passing through a hole in a stud 15 supported on the first pivot 14.
