Abstract

783,961. Angular bending of tubes. HUET, A. Feb. 11, 1954 [July 17, 1953], No. 4049/54. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A tube bending machine comprises a peripherally grooved bending roller around which the tube is bent and a supporting roller(s), adapted to support the tube against the bending roller during bending, having a peripheral groove of semi-oval cross-section. A tube a to be bent is first flattened to oval section, then secured by a pair of co-oporating fingers d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> to a bending roller b having a peripheral groove f of semi-oval section. The tube is then bent by rotating the roller b, the tube being guided by support rollers c also formed with peripheral grooves of semi-oval section, an internal region of the bend being heated by a blow-lamp i. The bent tube may then be given a circular section by compression. The roller b may be formed in two halves. Specification 678,002 is referred to.
