A tube bent around a rotated former is guided over its unbent portion by a half-sleeve or shoe slidable with the tube and urged thereagainst by two independently mounted pressure rollers. A tube c, Fig. 3, is secured by a latch b to a grooved former a rotated to bend the tube therearound. The extending unbent portion of the tube is guided by a half-sleeve d slidable therewith and pressed thereagainst by independently-mounted rollers f, g, the roller g allowing the tube to tilt a little. A fixed halfsleeve e supports that part of the unbent tube which will form the inside of the bend. The inside of the bend may be heated by means h. The tube may be of circular or oval section. In a modification, Fig. 4, the half-sleeve e is dispensed with and the tube c<SP>2</SP> guided by a slidable half-sleeve d<SP>1</SP> held in position by a stirrup i bridging the spindles of guide rollers f<SP>1</SP>, g<SP>1</SP>. For bending tubes formed with a bulge j, the halfsleeve d is apertured at k.
