Abstract

1,022,125. Tube bender. RIDGE TOOL CO. Oct. 19, 1962 [March 21, 1962], No. 39708/62. Heading B3E. A tube bender comprises a former, around which a tube is to be bent by a shoe pivoted to one end of a link pivoted at its other end to the former. A tube T to be bent is placed to lie against a grooved former 10, carried by a handle 12, and along a groove 23 in the handle 12. A hook 16, pivoted in the handle 12, is then swung over so as to press the tube T firmly into the groove in the mandrel and the groove 23. A bending shoe 43, grooved at 45, is then swung by a handle 44 about a pin 47 on a link 30, in turn pivoted about the axis of the mandrel 10, until a pin 53 on the shoe engages an extension 33 on the link 30. Continued movement of the handle 44 then swings the shoe 43 and link 30 about the mandrel to bend the tube T thereover. Modified forms of handles 12 and 44 are described.
