A tube bender includes a former having a peripheral bending groove, a block movable about axis of the former to press a tube into said bending groove, an elongated handle, and means movably connecting the handle to the block including means positioning the handle in either of two preselected angularly related positions relative to said block. A tube 17 is bent around a peripherally grooved former 11 by a grooved shoe 12 moved there around by a handle 16. The groove in the shoe 12 may be shallow and that in the former 11 deep. The shoe 12 is connected to the former 11 by arms 13, formed with kidney-shaped openings 30 engaging a part 14 on the former to permit the shoe to be withdrawn for insertion or removal of the tube. In order that the tube may be bent 180 degrees by successive movements of the handle 16 within a 90 degrees range of movement, the handle 16 has two positions on the shoe 12. To effect the first 90 degrees bend the handle bears against a stop 36 on the shoe and an elongated hole 35 in the handle engages at one end a shaft 34 on the shoe. After the first 90 degrees bend has been completed, the handle 16 is repositioned by swinging it about the shaft 34 then moving it inwardly to the position shown in Fig. 2, in which a corner 39 on the handle engages a recess 42 in the shoe. The bending is then completed. For bends of 90 degrees or less, the handle may be locked in its first position by a screw 43.
