Abstract

1398353 Bending HOUDAILLE INDUSTRIES Inc 16 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 12707/73 Heading B3E A hooked end, with a secondary bend near it, is formed in a metal sheet, e.g. a printing plate, by securing the end between a base and a forming member thereby forming the secondary bend, and bending an unchanged portion of the sheet around the forming member to form the hooked end. In the Figure, the end of the sheet 11 is placed on the base, and the toe 44 of a forming bar is pressed down on to the base by a hand operated crank (not shown) so that a polyurethane insert 62 in the base bends the sheet against an angle 52 in the toe. A hand operated bending bar 41 is then pivoted from position 78 to position 79 to form the hooked end round the toe. Alignment pins 72 on the base ensure correct positioning of the toe.
