A pipe-bending machine comprises a former 1 having an arcuate portion, a radial arm 3 rotatable about the axis of curvature of the arcuate portion of the former 1 and engageable with the portion of a pipe 2 fitted to the former 1 lying beyond the former, a mandrel-supporting arm 6 pivoted at 7 at one end to the radial arm 3 at a point offset from the axis and the other end of which carries mandrel-supporting means 9, Fig. 2 (not shown), arranged to swivel relatively to the mandrel-supporting arm 6, and a straight mandrel 14, supported by the means 9 and insertable within the end of a pipe 2 fitted to the former 1. The arm 3 engages the tube 2 through a forming shoe 5. The mandrel 14 is slidable in the means 9 a distance limited by the engagement of a pin, in one of a series of transverse holes in the mandrel, with the means 9. A distance piece may be inserted between the enlarged rear end of the mandrel 14 and the means 9 so that the mandrel may be extracted from the bent tube by swinging the arm 3.
