Abstract

989,039. Label pressing device. GEO. J. MEYER MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 11, 1962 [Oct. 26, 1962], No. 46709/62. Heading B8F. In a labelling machine comprising a conveyer C carrying upright bottles B and two levers 16, 1600 pivoted to rocker shafts 12 and carrying presser pads P i , P 2 , P 3 , P 4 , P 5 , in which the shafts 12 are rotated to apply the pads to the bottle and reciprocated to contact the moving bottle, additional pressure is supplied by rollers R 1 , R 2 mounted on a spring-loaded rocker 55 secured via rods 56 (Fig. 2) to the frame of the machine levers 16, 1600 capable of pivoting towards and away from each other and moving linearly at the same speed as the bottles are moved towards each other to apply and/or press a label to the bottle. Knobs A 1 , A 2 on the moving levers 16, 1600 contact rollers R 1 , R 2 rotating in the rocker 55. In Fig. 2 the rocker 55 is rotatable on shaft 56 which in turn is fixed to an adjustable bracket secured to the frame of the machine. A spring 59 is secured at one end to the rocker 55 and at the other to part of the bracket 51 to tilt the rocker towards the approaching lever. Thus the knob A 2 engaging the roller compresses the spring and hence applies increased pressure on the labels. As the rocker 55 rotates, until the roller springs loose and the rocker returns to its original position. Specification 864,625 is referred to.
