Abstract
988, 690. Dobbies for looms. A. W. OMAR. Sept. 22, 1961, No. 34039/61. Heading D1E. A loom dobby comprises a number of operating rods 1 to each of which at their end 3 is attached a harness of heald cords. The rods 1 are selectively actuated by a reciprocating driving member 4 driven from a shaft 31 under control of a pattern drum 10 with pegs 11. The pegs 11 are adapted, through double lever devices 12, 12a, to engage selected clutch members 6 on member 4 with tongues 9 on the rods 1 to move them to the left against spring pressure to be held by retaining members 14 engaging in recesses 17. The selected rods 1 are thus held to the left whilst the driving member 4 makes its return stroke and is retained there as long as a fresh peg 11 is presented to the double lever 12, 12a on successive steps of the pattern drum 10. In the absence of such a fresh peg 11 the rod 1 is released and this is effected by a second reciprocating member 22 driven from the shaft 31 out-of-phase with the driving member 4. The member 22 carries a lever 21, 19 pivoted at 20a which, when the member 22 is moved to the left, engages with an abutment 25 which pushes the part 19 down to engage a tongue 26 on rod 1. The rod 1 is thereby moved slightly further to the left and unless retaining member 14 is held up by a peg 11 it falls and allows the rod 1 to return under its spring pressure to the right. This return movement is controlled by the return movement of member 22, the tongue 26 acting against the part 19 of lever 21, 19 which is released when member 1 moves against a stop.
