Abstract

988,538. Photomechanical printing. INSTANT PHOTOSCREEN Inc. Jan. 19,1962 [Jan. 19,1961;0ct. 18,1961],No. 2049/62. Heading G2M. A photographic camera is provided with a half-tone screen removably secured to the camera directly in front of and covering the photosensitive surface, the screen having a flexible transparent base sufficiently rigid to maintain itself flat. As shown, applied to a camera for the production of a positive print by the silver salt diffusion process, the camera has a screen 30 secured in place by an adhesive strip 32 on one side, and, panachromatic film is used the screen may be dyed with a chrome-yellow dye. The opaque lines on the screen, which may be produced photographically, may be protected against abrasion by a thin transparent layer of polyethylene terephthate. It is stated that the positive print may be mounted directly in an "artists mechanical" for the production of a lithographic plate.
