988,147. Fluid flowmeters; gas meters. G.NEUHAUS. June 14, 1961 [June 14, 1960], No. 21554/61. Heading G1R. A fluid metering system in which a proportion of the main stream diverted through a bypass upstream of a restrictor including a fluidpressure governor upstream of the restrictor whereby the fluid pressure downstream of the restrictor maintains itself at a substantially constant value. According to Fig. 1, a reducing value 4 is regulated by the static pressure in a conduit 5 which opens downstream of an orifice plate 3. A second orifice plate is situated in the upstream by-pass conduit 6 leading to the gas-meter 8. In another embodiment (Fig. 5) flow in the upstream by-pass conduit 20 to a gas meter 22 is controlled by a reducing valve 21 which is regulated by the same pressure as the valve 4. Flow in the downstream by-pass conduit 24 positive meter is controlled by a valve 45 which is operated by a diaphragm 41 suoject to the pressure difference in conduits 50 and 51 which open below and above the plate 3. Orifice plates 52 and 53 in these latter conduits regulate flow and alternate pulsations. U.S.A. Specification 2, 206, 618 is referred to.
