Abstract

984,872. Reciprocating pumps. COUNCIL FOR SCIENTIFIC INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH. April 30, 1963 [May 12, 1962], No. 18349/62. Heading F1A. In an hydraulic pump or motor having a cylinder block rotatable relative to a cam member and a port block, the port member is provided, between the main ports, with at least one auxiliary port connected to a main port through an adjustable obturator. The auxiliary port 30 is positioned a slightly greater distance than the diameter of a cylinder part 19 from the trailing end of a main port 20 and is in communication with the leading end of a main port 21. The obturator comprises a threaded tapered needle 37 which is radially adjustable by a circular rack 40. Alternatively the needle may slide in the bore 38 and be spring loaded against a cam ring. In the case of a reversible pump or motor, each main port 20, 21 has an auxiliary port at either end, and the trailing auxiliary ports are cut off by their associated obturators. The circular rack may be made responsive either to variations in liquid pressure or to swash plate angle. Specifications 893,848 and 934,851 are referred to.
