Abstract

984,025. Friction brakes. TAN SAD Ltd. Dec. 9, 1963 [Jan. 3, 1963], No. 330/63. Heading F2E. A brake for an invalid chair or the like has a hand-lever 10 for causing a pivoted lever 17 to contact frictionally a wheel 20 through a toggle which is placed over dead-centre when the brake is in engagement and has a link consisting of two parts 15, 16 connected by a screw-threaded device 23 which permits the overall length of the link to be adjusted. The ends of the strips which form the parts 15 and 16 are bent at right angles with screw-threaded holes to receive the bolt 23 with the adjusting nuts 24, 25 and 26.
