983,777. Pneumatic conveyers. N. CORAH (St. MARGARET) Ltd., D. C. MASTERS, and A. BREWIN. May 24, 1963 [June 7, 1962; Jan. 22, 1963], Nos. 22018/62 and 2627/63. Heading B8A. In a pneumatic system for collecting articles from a plurality of despatch points, such as knitting machines 1, Fig. 3, and delivering them through a common service line 3, blower nozzles 9 are arranged in each feed conduit 5 for directing the articles towards the service line 3, and non - return valves 15 are arranged to prevent back-flow of air from the service line 3 when the associated nozzles 9 are not operating. " T " junction pieces 7, 8, Fig. 2, provided at the pipe joints have curved portions 16 between the stem and the cross-limb for smoothly guiding the articles. Supply of air to the nozzles 9 is controlled from valves 11 actuated by cams 13 on the pattern drums of the knitting machines. A flexible, disconnectable portion 20 of the service line 3 is provided so that batches of articles may be collected in a bin 21 for inspection. The articles are returned to the line 3 via a hopper 22 having an additional nozzle 9 controlled by a manually operated valve 24. Specification 983,779 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 944,704.
