Abstract
A steel comprises: .C.0.1- 0.5% .Mn.0.2- 1.0% .Ni.3.5- 5.5% .Co.1.5-10.0% .Mo.0.2- 0.5% .V.0 - 0.5% .Si.0 - 0.5% .Cr.1 - 2.0% the balance being iron and impurities and residual amounts of deoxidizing agents such as S,P, and Al. If Mn and Si are used as the only deoxidizers, at least 0.02% of V should be added as a grain refiner. The heat treatment comprises a single- or two-stage austenitizing followed by a single- or two-stage austenitizing One-stage austenitizing may be carried out at 810-840 DEG C., the two-stage at 870-920 DEG C., slow cooling, and then at 810-840 DEG C. Tempering is at 590-610 DEG C. for both the single and double tempering.
