Abstract
983, 522. Ironing machines. T. BERG. Sept. 24,1962 [Sept. 26,1961], No. 36249/62. Heading D1A. In an ironing machine comprising an ironing roll 1 and an ironing shoe, the roll 1 is driven by a motor 15 which is mounted inside roll 1 together with a pump 26 which delivers pressure medium to a pressure cylinder 12 for pivoting roll 1 and the shoe relative to one another. The motor 15 drives roll 1 through a pinion 16, a pressurefluid clutch 17,18,19 and pinions 21... 24. The diaphragm pump 26 is driven by motor 15 through an eccentric 25 and supplies fluid through a line 27 and a check valve (not shown) to a pressure accumulator 28 communicating with a distributer valve 14. Fluid is routed by valve 14 either to cylinder 12 to bring roll 1 down towards the ironing shoe against a return spring, or to inflate the diaphragm 19 of clutch 17,18,19 to engage the clutch. If the pressure in the accumulator 28 exceeds a certain value a valve 34 having a diaphragm 35, rod 36, spring 37 and ball 38 is actuated through a line 33 to prevent further supply of fluid to accumulator 28. The ironing pressure may alternatively be produced electromagnetically.
