Abstract

982,361. Cleaning drafting rollers. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. April 25,1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 15832/62. Heading D1D. Apparatus for cleaning a drafting roller 1 or 2 comprises a stripper 10, or 29 of tubular resilient material with its walls lightly held together centrally along the length of the tube so that the tube "bellies out" on either side thereof and takes up an equilibrium position under its resilience thereby presenting a straight stripping edge for the whole length of the roller 1 or 2. The strippers are formed from oil resistant materialfor example rubber. Stripper 10 bears under its own weight on roller 1 and is held in a holder 15 the ends of which fit in guide slots 20 in brackets 21, while the ends of holder 34 supporting stripper 29 are held in clips adjustably secured to brackets 39 so that the stripper bears against fluted roll 2. The loosened fibres 24, 48 are sucked into suction hoods 26, 44. To prevent the stripper falling out of the holder a plastic rod may be inserted (Fig. 4 not shown) into the inner loop 13 or 36.
