827,702. Textile drafting rollers. WHITIN MACHINE WORKS. May 28, 1958, No. 17063/58. Class 120(2) A clearer for a textile drafting roller comprises a flexible (e.g rubber) elongated tubular member 20, supported as shown, 22 being a channel member supported from the machine by hangers 24 of spring steel and 21 an inner damping member secured to the channel member by screws 23 passing through the clearer. The clearer is vibrated by the machine has open ends. and when caused to engage the roller by the hangers 24, follows the contour of the member 21 which has a flanged end 30. In this way it is maintained in engagement with the roller, which may be a covered upper one or a lower fluted roller. The clearer may be used with the pnuematic link-removing system described in Specification 816,806.
