981,007. Balanced flue connections; chimneys. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. Nov. 22, 1963 [Dec. 10, 1962], No. 46147/63. Headings F4J and F4W. The waste gas duct outlet aper ture of a gas-heated apparatus' sealed from its containing room and connected to a ventilated chimney of the Se-duct type, is arranged in plane lying at an acute angle to the adjacent chimney wall, the top edge of said aperture being flush with said wall but set back relative to its bottom edge which projects forwardly into the chimney space. Each room-sealed combustion chamber 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of respective storey levels 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 is provided with an air inlet duct 26 enclosing a waste gas duct 25, both ducts being connected to a chimney 21. In the basic embodiment of storey level 11, the waste gas outlet aperture 30 is inclined at an acute angle to the adjacent chimney wall 31, the top of said aperture 30<SP>1</SP> being flush and set back from its projecting bottom edge 30<SP>11</SP>. In the embodiment of storey 12, a baffleplate 32 extends across the inlet duct at the base of the waste gas duct in a plane which is parallel with the adjacent chimney wall 31 and which may extend as far forward as to be coincident with said wall, the depth of said baffle being equal to the distance the aperture bottom edge projects into the chimney space. In the embodiment of storey 15, an inclined deflector plate 33 is disposed between each of the side surfaces of the waste duct and the opposite inlet duct side wall. An additional deflector plate may be disposed between the aperture bottom edge and the base of the inlet duct. The embodiments of storeys 13 and 14 show three such plates incorporated, said deflectors being inclined and flat in the former and horizontal with dependent downwardly-curved lips 34<SP>1</SP> in the latter. Though the waste gas duct is shown enclosed by the air inlet duct in the preferred embodiments, the basic arrangement of the outlet aperture of the waste duct relative to the chimney is applicable to constructions in which inlet and waste gas ducts are separate.
