Abstract

980,884. Door closing-devices. STANMORE SPRINGS Ltd. Aug. 8, 1963 [Sept. 6, 1962], No. 34178/62. Heading E2M. A door fitting for use in conjunction with a spring unit set in the floor, to control the movement of a door, comprises an arm 15 mounted at one end on a stub shaft 14 of the unit, the axis 19 of which is offset from the axis 17 of the door hinges, the arm 15 having at its other end an upwardly projecting member such as a roller 21 engaging a channel section member adapted to be let into the bottom face of the door with its open side facing downwardly. The stub shaft chain is wedge shaped and projects upwardly from the spring unit into a boss 15a offset to one side of the arm 15 and shaped to fit closely on the stub shaft. In operation, the spring unit keeps the door closed. When the door is opened, it swings on its hinges, whilst the arm 15 swings on the stub shaft, the different displacements of the arm and door being accommodated by the roller running within the channel of the channel section member.
