Abstract
<PICT:0979787/C6-C7/1> A steel-making plant comprises a track, a vehicle including a converter for holding a molten iron charge adapted to move along the track, a charging station adjacent the track for charging the converter with molten iron, a blowing station adjacent the track at a distance from the charging station and including a movable oxygen emitting lance insertable into the top opening of the converter to inject oxygen into or upon a molten iron charge, and a teeming station adjacent the track at a distance from both the charging and blowing stations for receiving the refined iron. As shown in Fig. 2, a plurality of converter vehicles 25, 26, 27 may be provided each adapted to co-act with the track, e.g. a set of three mutually intersecting track-ways 16, 17, 18, to move between a charging station, e.g. 21 or 23 adjacent the charging bay 14, a blowing station 20 and a teeming station, e.g. 22 or 24 adjacent the teeming bay 15.
