866,176. Refining iron. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Sept. 28, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 32944/59. Class 72 [Also in Group XII] In a duplex furnace system for metal refining, rotary furnaces 1 and 2 are disposed on turntables 3 and 4 respectively by which they may be swung into line with track extensions 13 and 14 co-operating with a turntable 11 carrying an oxygen lance 7 tiltably mounted on a carriage 9. Turntables 3 and 4 may be tilted and a ladle 6 runs on a car on a track 18 between the furnaces. A modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) has two mounted lances serving three furnaces.
