Abstract

A mineral oil or fuel comprises one or more hydrocarbons and less than 0.1% by volume of each of the additives (i) hydrazine hydrate, and (ii) an organic amine containing at least one aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic group. Specified amines include ethylene and tetramethylene diamines, diethyl and dibutyl amines, triethanolamine, 1-amino-3-butoxy-propane, morpholine and cyclohexyl mono- and diamines. In examples, the additives are added to heavy fuel oil and crude oil.
