Abstract

979,355. Cartons. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. May 16, 1963 [July 18, 1962], No. 27649/62. Heading B8P. One side 8 of a six-sided carton forms a closure element hinged along one edge 11 to an edge of an adjoining side 7, the closure element having wings 12, 13, each with a slot 20, extending into the carton from the two edges 14, 15 adjoining the hinged edge 11, and tongues 17 to retain the closure element in its closed position. The tongues 17 engage in slits 18 in a side 3, 4 of the carton. The corners 19 of the wings are shaped to abut the side 3, 4 to prevent complete withdrawal of the closure element, and the slots 20 are provided to facilitate removal of the contents. In a modification the tongues 17 are formed on a tab hinged to the free edge of the side 8 and engage in slots in the sides 1, 2, the side 3, 4 having a cut-away portion to facilitate opening.
