978,836. Stuffing-boxes; valves. CRANE Ltd. Dec. 3, 1963, No. 47763/63. Headings F2B and F2V. A stuffing-box assembly for a valve &c. comprises a clamp member 7 formed by two halves each comprising a yoke arm 8, upper lug portions 13 secured together as by rivets 16 to provide a bearing for the valve actuating hand wheel 15, and lower lug portions clamped together around a recess 6 in the stuffing-box 5 by retaining bolts 11, and eyebolts 12 for compressing the packing pivotally mounted on the bolts 11 between the clamp halves. The box 6 is secured to the valve body 1 by brazing, soldering, welding or other means and the clamp halves may be pressed from sheet metal or metal tube. The eye bolts 12 may be swivelled outwardly between the clamp halves when the packing is being renewed.
