Abstract

986,537. Brake cylinders; diaphragm pistons. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. July 18, 1962 [July 19, 1961], No. 27563/62. Headings F2F and F2T. A fluid pressure operated device, particularly for vehicle brakes, comprises a casing 10 with a cover 12 and an operating rod 32 and is characterized by two diaphragms 18, 20 arranged one in front of the other and both cooperating with the rod 32, the diaphragms defining two chambers 22, 24, each of which leads by means of a respective associated pipe connection 26, 28 to a fluid-pressure source to permit actuation of the rod against spring means 38, 36 when either one or other or both of the pipe connections 26, 28 is or are supplied with pressure fluid. The diaphragms 18, 20 are each supplied with a reinforced edge 16 arranged to be clamped between the casing and cover edges and a ring of metal 14 interposed therebetween.
