836,669. Joint-making packing. GIRLING Ltd. Jan. 8, 1959 [Jan. 9, 1958], No. 862/58. Class 122 (3). A gasket comprises a continuous rubber &c. sealing member 12 bonded at its inner and outer edges to the adjacent edges of inner and outer flat sheet metal members 10, 11, a portion 20, Fig. 5, or portions 17, Fig. 3, being of greater thickness than the metal members and a portion 16 or portions 21 being of less thickness to permit deformation of the first portion or portions when the gasket is clamped between the parts to be sealed, for example, the end covers 27, 28 (Fig. 11) and body 29 of a vane type hydraulic actuator. The holes for the clamping bolts may be in the metal members or in the rubber as shown at 22 in Fig. 6.
