977,663. Closures for fibre drums. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. May 29, 1963 [June 26, 1962], No. 21475/63. Headings B8D and B8T. A cover 10 of a fibre drum 5 is held on by means of clips 11 which are pivoted individually on pairs of beads 16 punched out from a metal chime 9. The clips 11 may be a snap fit over the closure 10 or they may be deformed when in position on the closure. In a modification, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), the vertical member of each clip 11 may be folded to form a crosssection of V-shape enabling pivoting ears to be contracted for insertion into the beads 16. The drum 5 is formed of plies of convolutely wound paperboard and has a coating or lining 7.
