Abstract

936,565. Can carriers. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. March 12, 1962, No. 9406/62. Classes 94(1) and 133. A clip 10 for securing together cans with beaded rims comprises in one embodiment a metal polygonal, e.g. triangular, plate 18 at each edge of which are tabs 26, 28 to engage beneath a can rim, and a tab 30 to engage over and inside said rim. Each edge of the plate is arcuate to conform with the contours of the can, and a central hole 44 may receive means to carry the assembly. The clip is formed so that sufficient space is provided for the clip and cans to be initially loosely assembled, after which pressure is applied to the tabs 30 to interlock the tabs and rims securely together. Alternatively, a single tab may be provided on each edge to engage beneath, and two to engage over and inside, a can rim.
