989,358. Can carriers. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. Feb. 1, 1962, No. 3906/62. Heading A4G. A carrier for carrying, e.g. six, cans with beaded rims comprises a cardboard or like handle 4 (Fig. 5), the sides being foldable upwards from the position shown to bring the handleholes 10 into register and clips 2 inserted through slots 26 (Fig. 7) in the handle, each clip being adapted to secure a pair of cans together and having depending portions 18 with shoulders 21 which underlie the rims of a pair of cans and wing portions having a part 24 overlying the upper edge of a rim and a depending lug 22 which is pressed into engagement with the inner face of the rim. The body of the clips may have barbs 28 further to secure the clips to the handle 4. In a modification the slits 26 are replaced by triangular holes in the handle and the portions 18 are bent downwardly after the clip has been inserted in the handle.
