Abstract

977,259. Lathe centres. ETABLISSEMENTS BON & CIE. May 23, 1962 [May 25, 1961], No. 19915/62. Heading B3B. Means 26 are provided for indicating the axial displacement of a rotary centre 4. The centre is positioned within a body 1 between roller bearings 8, 9, and has a thrust bearing 15 located between a shoulder 14 on the centre 4 and a washer 16 retained within the body 1 by a circlip 34. Adjacent the washer 16 is a further washer 17 and two dished washers 18 and 19 providing resilience against axial movement of the centre. The washer 17 is provided with a recess 20 which, with corresponding faces of washers 16, 18, forms a housing for a crank-pin 21 formed eccentrically on a disc 22 which is integral with a shaft 23 and is mounted in the body 1 on a bearing 24. During operation the axial displacement of the centre against the pressure of the dished washers causes movement of the crank-pin which rotates the shaft 23, this movement being indicated by a dial 26 secured to the shaft 23 in conjunction with a fixed reference on the body 1.
