976,642. Stabilizing fins. VOSPER Ltd. June 5, 1962 [June 5, 1961], No. 20212/61. Heading B7M. A ship's stabilizer arrangement has a fin, or fins, mounted to protrude below the bottom of the ship at or near the centreline. In Figs. 1 and 3, a fin 4, which has control surfaces 15, 16 actuated by hydraulic motors moved by liquid from the pump 12, is retractable into the trunk 3 which extends between the deck 1 and bottom 2. The fin 4 carries rollers 7 on brackets 5 and 6 which run on rails 8 so that it may be lowered or raised by lifting gear 10.
