Abstract
1469385 Stabilizing ships HOWALDTSWERKE-DEUTSCHE WERFT AG HAMBURG UND KIEL 16 July 1975 [17 July 1974] 29917/75 Heading B7M A ship is stabilized by at least one pair of cylindrical rotors 12, 13, Fig. 2, which project laterally and are controllably rotatable in directions which are opposite to one another. More than one pair of rotors may be provided and they may be retractable into the ship. Each side of the ship may be provided with inner and outer rotors 20, 19, Fig. 4, which are rotatable in opposite directions. The outer rotors may be retracted into the ship. Guide elements 21, Fig. 5, may be provided to reduce drag. Adjustable covers may be used to render the rotors inoperative. Disc-shaped end covers 25, Fig. 6 (not shown), may be provided.
