In a mining machine disintegrated material gathered at the front end of the machine is conveyed by a scraper conveyer topping the frame which comprises a slewing jib 10 jointed to a body part 11. Slewing is carried out hydraulically by ram units 7. When slewing, for example, clockwise the anchorage part 30 of telescopic parts 30, 31 serves as an abutment (in the upper part of the Figure), the mechanical link 36, 38, 26 causing lever 22 to pivot about pin 25 (lower part of Figure) pin 24 thus forcing plate 20 outwards and by means of springs 16 connected to a conveyer pulley 14 counteracting any tendency of the chain to slacken.
