Abstract

974,442. Rod joints. BETONUND MONIERBAU A.G. June 26, 1962 [June 26, 1961], No. 24438/62. Heading F2G. [Also in Division B3] Concrete reinforcement and like bars of non-circular section are gripped for tensioning by a socket 17 internally threaded at 20 which is engaged over one end of the bar and twisted to cut or upset complementary thread grooves 3 at each crest or projection of the cross-sectional profile of the bar end. The screw-thread may be continuous or interrupted by longitudinal gaps. The mouth of the socket may be flared. The bars may be formed circular in section with one or more longitudinal ribs, and/or steeply or slightly inclined helical ribs. The socket 17 is screwed on to a tensioning rod 15 to which it is further secured by a key 18 and ring 19.
