Abstract

973,989. Pipe couplings. SIMCA INDUSTRIES. March 28, 1963, No. 12300/63. Heading F2G. A pressure fluid connection comprises a sleeve 5 adapted to be secured about the end of a bored member 2, a washer 9 which seats on the internal surface of the sleeve and which is adapted to contact external abutment means 4 on the pipe 1 to urge the latter axially into sealing contact with the member 2, and a resilient packing member 10 adapted to be accommodated within the sleeve and to be retained thereby without substantial compressive strain, in simultaneous contact with the internal surfaces of the sleeve and the washer and the external surface of the pipe. As shown, the member 10 has a frustoconical surface which co-operates with the surface 7 of the sleeve, the latter being screwed on to the member 2. The member 10 may be split longitudinally and be formed from a polyamide type synthetic resin. In a modification, the sleeve 5 has an axially tapered boss to enable a more elongated packing 10 to be fitted.
