972,706. Conveying articles. K. KÍRBER. Jan. 26, 1961 [Feb. 10, 1960], No. 3078/61. Heading B8A. A conveyer for feeding articles step by step in a packaging machine comprises pushers 30 which displace the articles along surface 52. The movement of pushers 31 is compounded of two movements stemming respectively from rods 26 and 44 driven with out-of-phase movement by gear 46. Rod 26 is pivotally connected to U-beam 15 and causes the beam to reciprocate, the beam being carried by carriages 14, 20 and 13 which respectively slide along the bars 12, 18, 19 and 11. U-beam 15 carries pushers 30 pivotally at 33 so that the movement of rod 26 causes the longitudinal movement of pushers 30. Rod 44 is pivotally connected to slide 37 which slides along rod 40 carried by carriage 20. Slide 37 carries rigidly rail 36 wherein are formed slots 35 which co-operate with respective rollers 34 carried by the pivoted pushers 30. Movement of rod 44 causes reciprocation of slide 37 and therefore of slots 35. Since the rods 26 and 44 are out of phase it follows that the movements of slide 37 and carriage 20 are also out of phase. This causes relative movement between a slot 35 and a pusher 30 and this relative movement causes the upward movement of pusher 30. As a result, a pusher rises behind a package to give it a push leftwards, is lowered so that it may be retracted, and then elevated in order to give the next package a push.
