[Also in Division B8] Drum handling apparatus has an arcuate cradle 1, Figs. 4, 6, 7, which engages under a projection 2 on a drum 3, and a pair of arms 4 pivoted at 5 to cradle 1 and rotatable to engage projections 6, 6a over the top of projection 2 to clamp the cradle to the drum, the cradle being pivoted at 13 to a framework 8 in an unbalanced manner so that the drum can easily assume a discharge position when a catch mechanism 10, Fig. 7, is released. The arms 4 are held closed by a pin 7 in projections 6. A handle 15 fixed to one of the pivots 13, which are fixed to the drum 3 and are mounted in bearings 14 in the framework 8 of a hand truck 9, carries a lever 11 which engages abutment 12 on framework 8 to prevent rotation of the drum during transportation; the handle 15 initiates rotation of the drum on release of catch 10 and a detent in lever 11 engages bearing 14 to prevent " kick back" of the drum on discharging of its contents. Handle 15 and a lever on the other pivot 13 engage spring buffers 17, Fig. 1, on framework 8 when the drum is returned to an upright position. Instead of being mounted on a hand truck 9, the cradle may have a lever on one pivot 13 which can be attached to a yoke of a lift or hoist.
