Abstract
948,657. Counterbalanced loading platforms. G. HUNTER (LONDON) Ltd. July 4, 1962 [July 5, 1961; Dec. 1, 1961], Nos. 24345/61 and 43137/61. Heading B8E. [Also in Division E2] A hinged loading platform 2, Fig. 1, is counterbalanced by a weight 28 which acts on the platform through a lever 24, a cam 20 and camfollowerer 22. A lip 16, which rests on a vehicle being loaded, may be either fixed or pivoted to the platform. The platform is locked in the position shown by bolts 48, Fig. 2, which engage in slots 50 and are projected and withdrawn by handles 30. In a first embodiment these handles Fig. 4, rotate a shaft 32 which turns a lever 42, 44 by means of a pin 38. This lever projects and withdraws the bolt by engaging pins 46. In a second embodiment, Fig. 8, the bolt 48 is projected by a spring 60 and withdrawn by a lever 58 which engages a pin 62 on the bolt. The lever 58, Fig. 7, is turned by an abutment 54 when the shaft 32 rotates.
