Abstract
1,015,231. Counterbalanced loading platforms. G. E. & L. V. RICH Ltd. April 30, 1964 [May 2, 1963], No. 17446/63. Heading B8E. [Also in Division E2] A hinged loading platform 1 is provided at the end remote from the hinge with a pair of handles 9 connected to locking bolts 20 slidably mounted in side members 21 of the platform, the arrangement being such that when the bolts are in engagement with holes in a fixed structure 22, the handles 9 are located in recesses 10 beneath the upper surface of the platform. Each handle is mounted on a rod 11 which is connected by a pin and slot connection 13, 12 to a bell-crank lever 14 secured to a shaft 15 rotatably mounted in brackets 16. The bolt 20 is pivotally connected at 18 to a lever 17 which is secured to the shaft 15 and which is connected by a tension spring 23 to the side member 21. The two bell-crank levers 14 are connected by a link 25 whereby, on raising one of the handles 9, both bolts 20 are withdrawn. A cam 2 mounted on the underside of the platform engages a roller 3 on an arm 4 which is pivoted at 5 to a support 6 and which is provided with counterweight boxes 8.
