Abstract
852,076. Transferring freight containers to and from vehicles. TAYLOR, E. J. Oct. 23, 1958 [Sept. 3, 1957], No. 27754/57. Class 78 (4). A body 1 (Fig. 6) is removed from the platform 3 of a vehicle by pivoted struts 5 engaging pins on the body and pushed into vertical positions, where they are locked, by movement of the vehicle. The pins preferably retract into housings beneath the body 1 and engage slots in the struts 5. The struts 5 are pivoted at 6 (Fig. 1) to portable base plates 10 and are prevented from passing over the vertical position by pins 11 which co-operate with removable pins 12 to hold the struts 5 in their vertical position. A chain 16 (Fig. 6) forms a towing connection with the vehicle when the body is to be pulled from the struts 5 on to the platform 3.
