Abstract

971,876. Sliding clasp fasteners. AERO ZIPP FASTENERS Ltd. Feb. 19, 1963 [March 22, 1962], No. 10974/62. Heading E2S. A completely separable sliding clasp fastener comprises two flexible carriers provided with fastener elements, the fastener elements of one carrier being adapted for interlocking with the fastener elements of the other carrier, a slider 23 being provided for effecting the interlocking, one of the carriers having a stop 7 adapted to engage a counter stop 8 on the other carrier, locking means attached to the stop 8 and capable of and arranged for engaging the other stop 7 being provided for holding the stops together whilst the fastener is wholly or partly closed, the locking means being adapted for engagement by the slider when the fastener is fully operated by means of the slider whereby to release the action of the locking means on the stop 7. As shown the locking means comprises a flat spring 12 secured to the stop 8 and carrying a prong 14 adapted to engage a notch 17 in the other stop 7. The stop 8 is a box and the stop 7 is a pin engageable in the box. The end of the spring 12 is rolled under and the slider has a cam surface 25 for lifting the spring to release it. In a modification a coil spring is substituted for the flat spring.
