Abstract

1497104 Sliding clasp fasteners TEXTRON Ltd [26 Aug 1975] 35168/75 Heading E2S A locking slider 10 has a body 11 with a passage 12 for the fastener elements into which enter one or more locking prongs 17 formed on a separate cap 13 of an inverted U-section, the prongs being disengaged when cap 13 is raised, against the spring bias of a tail position 16, by the action of pull bar 26, during the opening movement of slider 10, against cam surfaces 20a formed on opposed recesses 18 of the cap. Cap 13 is retained in the disengaged position, with the slider at rest, by the passage of bar 26 beneath cam portion 20b. Lugs 15 at each end of cap 13 act as a fulcrum and an abutment stop respectively by engagement with shoulders 22 of the body. Member 25 is pulled to the left (Fig. 1) to close the fastener and bar 26 then bears against cam surfaces 19 to raise the cap and disengage prongs 17 until member 25 is released. Another form of slider 30, Fig. 3, provides a resilient member 33 with a locking prong 34 and a tail 35, member 33 itself including cam surface 39 and clamping surface 40 to engage pull bar 37. An abutment 41 retains bar 37 in the clamped position.
