Abstract

971,513. Unpacking. O. NIEPMANN, and G. MONNINGHOFF, [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK FR. NIEPMANN & CO.]. April 24, 1962 [May 27, 1961], No. 15492/62. Heading B8C. A device for emptying filled cigarette trays into the hopper 3 of a packaging machine comprises a conveyer 5 for advancing the trays with open sides foremost to a pivoted carrier which rotates through substantially 180 degrees to present them to transfer means for sliding them over the hopper. The carrier consists of arms 8, 9 joined by plates covering the front of the tray and open top during pivoting. The transfer means comprises jaws 14, 15 which grip the tray and travel along rods 16, 17 to bring it over a discharge aperture. They then return it so that a pusher 22 may force it along a discharge platform 24 and they may receive the next full tray. The jaws 14, 15 each carry means (Fig. 4, not shown) to slightly raise each tray during its back and forth movement. The carrier and transfer means are adjustable for different container sizes.
