Abstract

1428460 Packaging apparatus FOCKE & PFUHL 27 Feb 1973 [28 Feb 1972] 9608/73 Heading B8C In apparatus for packaging groups 11 of bottles 10, or the like, collapsed tubular cartons 12 are drawn from magazine 20 by suction-pad 22 of pivoting arm 21, opened, and held by suction-plate 70 of a conveyer 26 which then lowers the opened carton to enclose a stationary group 11 of bottles on filling platform 25 where bottom flaps 15, 16 of the carton are then folded beneath the bottles by members 36, 37, the remaining bottom flaps 17, 18 being glued and folded under by members 50, 51, 52 as the carton is carried on by intermittently moving conveyer belts 29, 30. In a modification, belts 29, 30 move continuously and cartons are gradually applied to bottles 10 by opposed conveyer belts moving in a path inclined to belts 29, 30.
